He is a professor of reproductive biology and molecular toxicology and principal investigator of the reproductive biology & molecular toxicology research group in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Port Harcourt, Choba in Nigeria Africa. He has considerable research expertise in the field of reproductive biology & molecular toxicology & chemoprevention. His studies have contributed to the understanding of how environmental active chemicals affect fertility heath of human males and their role in inflammation-mediated male infertility. He was awarded a prestigious research grant by the World Academy of Sciences, Italy and UNESCO to study the effects of the triazine chemicals on the testis of vertebrate animal models (2016-2018). Prior to joining University of Port Harcourt in 2014, he was a German Research Foundation visiting scientist at the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Justus-Liebig University in Giessen in Germany, where he conducted studies on the roles of macrophages and Sertoli cells in maintaining the immune privilege phenotype of the testis. He was a postdoctoral fellow in 2016 at the Institute of Biological Sciences at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte in Brazil, where he studied the preferential location (niche) and physiology of spermatogonial stem cells in the testis of adult Nile-tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). At present, his main line of research is the treatment of chemotherapy-related male gonadal toxicity and bio-guided isolation of bioactive pro-drug candidates with contraceptive properties and with importance in medicine. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Young Academy, Africa Science Leadership Programme (South Africa), USERN Junior Ambassador for Nigeria. He was listed top 500 Nigerian scholars in 2019 and 2021 (SciVal-Author Ranking) and one of the best Africa Scientist in the University of Port Harcourt Ranking in 2021.
